Questions Our Patients Often Ask:
What are the daily 6 steps to use ZO Skin Health Care?
To get the best benefits from your 6-step routine, ZO Skin Health products should be applied in layers from thinnest to thickest consistency, starting by following the brand’s core structure:
- Step 1: Cleanse (Morning & Night) — Removing the surface debris.
- Step 2: Scrub / Exfoliate (2–3 times a week, or as directed by your TruDerm Provider) — This will buff away dead skin cells to allow the other ZO products to penetrate deeper and give your skin better results.
- Step 3: Oil Control / Tone (Morning & Night) — Balancing your skin’s pH.
- Step 4: Prevent + Correct (Morning & Night) — This is where you apply targeted serums, antioxidants, or pigment controllers.
- Step 5: Stimulate (Growth Factors / Retinols) (Night) — Highly active products like these should be applied last in your correction phase.
- Step 6: Protect (Morning) — Finish with your broad-spectrum sunscreen.
How long does it take to see results from using the ZO Skin Health 6-step system?
- In the first 2 weeks: You should see the beginning of increased cellular turnover. Old, dead skin flakes away as your complexion becomes smoother and brighter.
- After 6 weeks: This is generally the standard timeline for your skin to fully acclimate and build a tolerance to the active treatment phases (such as aggressive acne or pigment programs).
- Long-term results: Deeper corrections—such as reducing severe dark spots, smoothing fine lines, and improving skin elasticity—continue to improve progressively over several months.
How do you use ZO Skin Health to smooth out wrinkles and repair the texture of your skin?
Start with Wrinkle + Texture Repair
- Cleanse: Start with a clean, completely dry face.
- Initial Frequency: Apply ZO Skin Health Wrinkle + Texture Repair Cream just twice a week if you are new to retinol.
- Gradual Buildup: Slowly increase application frequency to alternate days, and eventually work your way up to every day as your skin builds tolerance.
- Pair with Support: Layer or pair the retinol with ZO Skin Health Daily Power Defense or a ZO functional hydrator to mitigate dryness and reinforce the skin barrier.
- Daytime Protection: Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every morning, because active retinol increases sun sensitivity.
Expected Reactions
- Normal Responses: Temporary redness, flakiness, dryness, and mild burning or stinging are common when you first introduce the product.
- Mechanism: The retinol and targeted complexes (such as ZO-RDS™ and ZCORE™) penetrate deep into your skin’s dermis to stimulate cell renewal, boost collagen production, and restructure the extracellular matrix.
